Same same, but different.

Two dissimilar towers of student housing sit along Parramatta Road, layered with varied conditions of domesticity, collective negotiation and varied scales of shared and private living. Each tower is similar, yet different through typology. A balance of two distinct qualities of domestic life is embedded throughout the project - the rigid, and the loose ambiguity. The towers balance between introvert and extrovert. Solid cores feather out to light edges. A central core of connectivity and circulation sits on a shifted platform, dividing the ground plane. The towers become an extension of its USYD’s porous campus, raised two and three storeys, allowing the site to breathe and break prevailing street context - whilst also leaving room for connecting with Country.
